Holley® Style Carburetors

Stage One Build

Stage One Holley builds consists of:

  • Machining of body and base plate surfaces.
  • Sizing all the fuel and air passages to factory specifications.
  • Checking and correcting metering blocks to ensure a flat surface.
  • Alignment of boosters.
  • Re-assembly with new floats, needle and seats, and non-stick gaskets
  • Testing on our DTS engine Dyno.
  • Verification of fuel curve and calibration.
  • This is not a cosmetic build, no re-coloring is involved.

This build is essentially blueprinting the carburetor.

Stage Two Build

Stage Two consists of everything included in Stage One plus:

  • Calibration of the fuel curve in the metering blocks' emulsion circuits.
  • Installation of correct style boosters to match your engine combination and usage.
  • Installation of correct idle air bleeds and high-speed air bleeds.
  • Machining the choke tower off.
  • Machine for four corner idle circuit depending on engine requirements.
  • This is not a cosmetic build, no re-coloring is involved.

This build is essentially where the fuel curve is matched to the engine combination and usage. In this build the venturi is not modified because the airflow is already optimized for the application

Stage Three Build

Stage Three consists of everything included in Stage Two plus:

  • Trimming the primary and secondary throttle shafts.
  • Disassembly of base plate, resurfacing, and glass bead processing.
  • Installation of stainless button-head throttle blade screws.
  • Installation of appropriate floats such as notched, tunnel ram, or road race.
  • (On Holley Dominator 4500 series carburetors, will receive the same modifications as stage one and stage two modifications and the following.)

  • The venturi will be modified to maximize airflow to match the engine specifications.
  • Dichromate process restores the carburetor to original Holley® color.
  • Installation of screw-in air bleeds.

On Holley 4150 & 4160 carburetors, this build increases air flow by approximately 40 CFM.

Stage Four Build

Stage Four consists of everything included in Stage Three plus:

  • Enlarging the venturi to achieve maximum air flow for the engine requirements.
  • Dichromate process restores the carburetor to original Holley® color.
  • Installation of screw-in air bleeds

This build is typically for a full race application.
